Kalymnos beaches with sunbeds: the list
Six beaches have sunbeds in season: Masouri, Kantouni, Therma, Kalamia, Arginonta and Emporios. The other beaches are bring-your-own-towel. That split is normal here: Kalymnos is not a resort island.
The organised beaches
- Masouri: the main beach. Sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bar, sand.
- Kantouni: sunbeds at the beach bars, sandy, popular with locals.
- Therma: small town beach near Pothia with umbrellas.
- Kalamia: free sunbeds when you order at the beach bar.
- Arginonta: a modest row of beds and a small café in a quiet bay.
- Emporios: some umbrellas and beds in the middle of the bay.
Bring your own shade
Myrties, Platys Gialos, Vlychadia and the unnamed coves have few or no facilities. Pack water, a hat and reef shoes and you have the quiet half of the island to yourself.
Practical notes
- Season: beds appear around May and disappear in October.
- Peak weeks: at small beaches like Kalamia, arrive before noon.
- Payment: usually a small fee, or beds belong to the bar and you order something.
